POSITION SUMMARY
Join our team as an Environment, Health, and Safety Specialist! You'll take charge of coordinating and ensuring compliance with EHS policies and procedures. From conducting training to leading improvement initiatives, your passion for environmental health and safety will make a significant impact. Position Responsibilitiesinclude but not limited to:
Createandmaintainwork instructions, forms, andsite specificprograms and procedures.
Coordinate and administer all employeeEHStraining,asrequired.
Make recommendations for compliance with federal and state EHS regulations.
Devise and implement EHS processes to prevent,corrector control environmental conditions.
Complete all required weekly, monthly, and annualfacilityinspections,as required. Including, but not limitedto,fire extinguisher,eye wash,emergency lightinspections, andAED.
Conduct regularEHSinspections plant-wide on all shifts andadministersappropriate correctiveactions for violations ofEHSprocedures and regulationsand permits.
Lead andfacilitateall monthlyon-siteSafety Committee meetings.
Attend all corporate monthly and/or weeklyEHSmeetings.
ConductEHSaudits on a routine monthly basis to ensure compliancetocompany and regulatory requirements and return results to corporatein a timely manner.
Oversee thereporting, investigation,anddocumentation ofallaccidents andnearmiss incidents, following up with supervisors and employees on those incidents anddeterminingand managingcorrective actions.
Lead and encourage all employeestofollowEHSexpectations and behavior, communicate employerEHSpolicies and goals to employees, respond to and/or review employeeEHSconcerns.
Organize andmaintainoccupational exposure and industrial hygiene programson anannual basis, making sure thatcompliance is beingmet at all times.
Oversee SDS maintenance requirementsandassistwith chemical information requests.
Participate in company-wideEHSevents and awareness programs.
Work alongside facilitysupervisors andleads, Quality Manager, and HR toensurethat all on-site facility job specific training is being conducted, documented, and tracked.
AssistHRin Workers' Compensation actions including treatment, investigation, documentation, and drug/alcohol testing.
Researchand writepermit applications / renewals to be compliantwithpermit reporting requirements.
Prepare andmaintainemissions inventory for each emission point in the facilityon a monthly basis, if applicable.
Review monthly/quarterlywaste waterreports, if applicable.
Manage hazardous waste within thefacility:facilitates hazardous waste pickups,maintainshazardous waste shipping records to prepare andsubmitquarterly and biennial hazardous waste generator reports.
Conduct storm water sampling and report toappropriateenvironmentalagency.
Other Job Duties including but not limited to:
Escort representatives of all agencies conducting safety, health, environmental, fire, and physical security audits of the facility.
Examine plans and specifications for newprocesses,machineryor equipment todetermineif all safety,health, and environmentalissues are addressed and if required reporting or permitting is authored/amended.
Perform hazard assessments to ensure hazards are recognized and addressed and that employees have and areutilizingproper PPE.
Familiar with AS9100 Quality System requirements andcomplyaccordingly.
Participate in kaizen or R3 events focused onEHSimprovements.
Familiar with allDOTregulations and requirements and ensure all driver personnel meet mandatory requirements to transport hazardous materials and company products;conductsany necessary DOT training andmaintainsall employee driver records.
On-callat all timesto respond toEHSrelated issues and must be available to work extended hours and overtime, whenrequired,including weekends.
Documentand enforcecompany policy(verbal and written warnings).
Qualifications, Skills, Education, and Experience:
Occupational Safety & Health and/or EnvironmentalBachelor'sdegree preferred, high school diploma orequivalencyrequired.Experience may be substituted forbachelor'sdegree.
Associate Safety Professional Certification preferred.
Requireduse ofconsiderable independent judgment, discretion, and initiative in carrying out daily operations.
Must have knowledge or demonstrate the ability to learn EHS regulations, issues, procedures, processes, reporting requirements, and other compliance requirements with federal, state, and local legislation governing the environment.
Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Programs including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Wordrequired.
Customer Service focusedwithpreviousexperience inEHSor HR preferred.
Demonstrated ability tomaintainconfidentiality.
Ability to work effectively in ateam basedenvironment and interact professionally with co-workers and vendors,understandsinternal customers, andstrivestomaintaingood relations with others.
Responds quickly to inquiries andfollowsup, as needed.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee isfrequentlyexposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles.The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.The noise level in the work environment can vary frommoderatetohigh.
Must have the ability to bend, twist, and stretch arms above head and walk orstand forlong periodsof time.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift and move heavy objects, up to 40 pounds safely.
Must have a standard visual acuity(correctable by prescription glasses or contacts meetstherequirement) andhave the ability todistinguish colors.
Ability to distinguish with or without correction occupational noise exposure.
